Writing hopeful stories for a grim world.

Rachel North combines her passion for mental health with her love of fairytales and classic novels, crafting imaginative, fantastical stories that approach real-world issues like depression and anxiety with light and hope.

She is a founding graduate of the Author Conservatory. Her novel, The Genesis Clock, won first place in the 2023 One Year Adventure Novel Student Novel Contest. Her paranormal short story, “The Wolf and the Willow,” releases September 24, 2024 in the Voices of the Future: Stories of Healing and Home anthology.

Rachel lives in Minnesota, where the cold weather gives her the perfect excuse to stay inside and watch Pride and Prejudice (2005) for the hundredth time. When she’s not writing, she’s learning to be gentle with her chronic depression by pursuing her joys of hoarding fairytale collections, trying new anxiety fidgets, and writing indie-folk music.
